About the conference | Who should attend? | Conference goals

Digital Repositories for Learning: moving from why to how, will focus on addressing and overcoming challenges faced in creating and sustaining educational repositories.

Sponsored by the FIPSE-funded OnCoRe Blueprint Project*, this conference will be a full-day session (August 11, 2009), offered in conjunction with the Open Ed 2009 Conference, August 12-14, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Many states, institutions, and organizations are currently envisioning, designing and developing repository projects.  Establishing a successful repository requires funding, adopting technical standards and policies, creating partnerships, procedures, training, and marketing plans, and finding appropriate content. User adoption of a repository may require changes in preparing, delivering, and/or archiving  educational experiences.

Who Should Attend?
This one-day conference is bringing together a range of thought leaders, administrators, and implementers -- to help shape the evolution of content sharing and repository development. This includes:

  • Repository managers and staff
  • IT managers
  • eLearning managers
  • Statewide education leaders and administrators
  • Institutional administrators
  • Educators
  • Librarians
  • Anyone interested in learning more about developing, implementing, or sustaining a repository.

Conference Goals

  • To expand the knowledge of and use of the OnCoRe Blueprint, a FIPSE grant project, which provides a framework for the development, implementation, and sustainability of digital educational repositories.
  • To expand knowledge and use of Open Educational Resources
  • To establish a community of practice whose members will continue to share knowledge and interact with one another after the conference concludes.

*The Online Content Repository (OnCoRe) Blueprint Project is an initiative to create a sustainable national model for the creation of statewide digital repositories. Funded by a grant from the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), the OnCoRe Blueprint Project provides state entities with a “how to” manual, resources, and research for developing a standards-based educational repository.
