Susie HendersonSusie Henderson, OnCoRe Project Principal Investigator
As Associate Executive Director of the Florida Distance Learning Consortium, Ms. Henderson works with the 39 postsecondary institutions in Florida to leverage resources, facilitate statewide communication and cooperation, and develop beneficial statewide initiatives such as The Orange Grove, a K-20 learning object repository. She serves on and chairs regional and national committees in the USA such as the Academic ADL co-Lab in Madison, Wisconsin, OCLC e-learning committee, SREB’s Distance Learning Policy Laboratory and SCO-RE Project and also MiCTA’s e-Learning RFP committee.

Ms. Henderson has served as a technology and e-learning consultant with other states and the government of Malaysia. Within Florida, she directed the statewide 2000 SACS Distance Learning Substantive Change visit and worked as a consultant to the Florida Department of Education’s Alternative Certification Program.

Ms. Henderson holds an Master of Science from Florida State University in Instructional Systems and a B.A. in Psychology and Asian Studies from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota.


Elizabeth JohnsonElizabeth Johnson, OnCoRe Project Coordinator
As coordinator of the OnCoRe Blueprint Project, Elizabeth Johnson works with the FDLC, Orange Grove repository, focus groups, and other stakeholders to gather information for a blueprint detailing policies and procedures needed to develop a statewide online content repository. She is responsible for facilitating design and creation of the blueprint and coordinating its testing through a pilot implementation in another state.

Ms. Johnson previously worked for the Office of International Programs at Florida State University—first at the FSU London Study Centre in England, where she managed the Library/computer lab, and then in the Tallahassee office where she served as Assistant Director of Information and Publications. She holds a M.S. in Information Studies and a B.A. in English from Florida State University.


Cathy AlfanoCathy Alfano, Orange Grove Project Manager
Cathy Alfano is playing a major role in the implementation of The Orange Grove project. In her role as Orange Grove Project Manager, she serves as Consortium liaison to the Orange Grove Committee, and manages users for The Orange Grove. She also supports planning and training for the repository, assists in learning resource identification and development, collaborates on grant applications and proposals, and works with FDLC and the SREB-SCORE project members to solve problems related to metadata issues.

In her most recent position with Florida State University’s Learning Systems Institute, she was a project manager for U.S. Navy projects, leading a team to design and develop electronic performance support tools and recommendations for implementing distance initiatives. Mrs. Alfano holds a M.S. in Instructional Systems from Florida State University and a B. A. in English from the University of Florida.
